Distance Learning and Videoconferencing Services
In collaboration with SVRTC, ITTIP works with school divisions in effective, efficient and appropriate use of videoconferencing (VC) and provides professional development in content instruction using asynchronous and synchronous modes. Whenever needed and appropriate, ITTIP coordinates professional development activities for teachers and administrators in partnership with other higher education institutions (i.e., JMU for GIS, ODU for marine engineering, Longwood for high school algebra…).
Our recent efforts include:
- finding possible sources of funding for expanding Southern Virginia Education Network (SVEN)
- emphasizing the need for high definition videoconferencing systems in high schools for use in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related courses
- identifying appropriate and effective strategies to use social media tools and virtual worlds in instruction
